Premier League round-up: Two Manchester City players garner perfect 10 ratings

Manchester City made a huge statement of intent in the Premier League title race after thrashing Chelsea 6-0 on Sunday to return to the league’s summit. There was added pressure on Pep Guardiola’s side after watching both Liverpool and Tottenham win prior to their match. Chelsea’s heavy loss also allowed Manchester United to end the week in the top four for the first time since the opening weekend of the season.

Here we round up the top five WhoScored rated players from the latest batch of Premier League matches.

5. Anthony Martial (Manchester United) – 8.74 rating

Anthony Martial drew comparisons to former Manchester United hero Cristiano Ronaldo at the weekend after dribbling his way through Fulham to score on Saturday. The France international also registered an assist for Paul Pogba’s first of the match, as their relationship continues to blossom under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The 23-year-old had three shots in total, registered two key passes, completed two dribbles and won two fouls.

4. Paul Pogba (Manchester United) – 8.77 rating

Paul Pogba turned in another WhoScored Man of the Match performance for Manchester United after netting twice in a comfortable 3-0 win over Fulham. Pogba smashed in Martial’s through ball to open the scoring before wrapping up all three points in the second half with a well-placed penalty. The 25-year-old completed three dribbles, won two fouls and registered one key pass against Fulham. The 2018 World Cup winner also made two tackles.

3. Hugo Lloris (Tottenham) - 9.08 rating

Tottenham have Hugo Lloris to thank for ensuring all three points against Leicester on Sunday. The France international saved Jamie Vardy’s penalty when Tottenham were only 1-0 up before Mauricio Pochettino’s side doubled their advantage three minute later. Lloris made nine saves in total, more than any other goalkeeper in gameweek 26.

2. Sergio Aguero (Manchester City) – 10.0 rating

Sergio Aguero levelled Alan Shearer’s hat-trick record (11 hat-tricks) in the Premier League in Manchester City’s 6-0 destruction of Chelsea on Sunday. Aguero was also denied by the woodwork and somehow missed the easiest chance of the lot during his performance. The Argentina international has now scored successive hat-tricks in home league matches.

1. Raheem Sterling (Manchester City) – 10.0 rating

Raheem Sterling also got a perfect WhoScored 10 rating but edges his Manchester City team-mate on rating points. The England international scored from both of his shots against Chelsea, while also weighing in with three tackles and interceptions combined. However, it was in the final third where Sterling caused mayhem, completing five dribbles, winning two fouls and registering two key passes.
