Arsenal vs Man United: Premier League preview, facts and prediction

With Arsenal still on a high from their North London Derby victory against Tottenham and Manchester United reeling from conceding a late equaliser at Selhurst Park midweek, the two sides face off at the Emirates on Sunday. Arsenal are looking to keep their foot on the gas and break futher away from the chasing pack while Ten Hag’s United will be looking to get back to winning ways against Arteta’s men.

We take a look at some of the most interesting betting markets for this fixture.

Match Result

One key factor on the result is the absence of Casemiro for United. A very poor tackle against Zaha on Thursday resulted in a yellow card for the Brazilian, which in turn means he will be suspended for the trip to the Emirates. United have won 69% of games he’s featured in in the league, and only 33% of games he’s missed. He will be a massive loss for Man Utd and they will have a big hole to fill in the midfield.

Arsenal are still without Gabriel Jesus, but so far they haven’t seemed to struggle finding the net. Only Man City (46) have scored more goals than Arsenal (42) this season and Arteta will be hoping that they can continue their scoring form.

Without Casemiro in midfield to protect the United back four there may be more space for the likes of Odegaard and Xhaka who are more than capable of opening up United’s defence and creating chances. That said United are unbeaten in their last six Premier League matches and so this could easily be a draw.

Anytime Scorer

There are a few candidates for an anytime scorer bet from both sides, and we’ll start with Rashford. Despite firing a blank against Palace, the Englishman has been in fine form of late, scoring in seven consecutive games, up until the trip to South London. Rashford loves a goal contribution against Arsenal scoring on four occasions and providing four assists in his 14 appearances in the Premier League. In the reverse fixture, the United forward put two past Arsenal, and provided an assist, to steer United to a 3-1 victory, so you could see him getting on the scoresheet again.

Marcus Rashford to Score Anytime – 3/1

Although it may be a surprise to some, Martin Odegaard is Arsenal’s top scorer this season in the Premier League with eight goals. He is closely followed by Gabriel Martinelli (7) and Bukayo Saka (6). The Norwegian midfielder has scored four goals in his last five matches in all competitions, and could get on the scoresheet again this weekend. He is Arsenal’s highest rated player to have played more than 15 Premier League games this season with a WhoScored rating of 7.52. One way or another, he will be pivotal for the Gunners on Sunday and if he can get on the scoresheet, he may will win Arsenal all three points.

Total Goals

In the last three Premier League meetings between these two sides, there have been an abundance of goals, and there is no reason why this weekend’s match up would buck that trend. Since December 2021, there have been 13 goals in the last three matches, which averages out to over four goals per game.

However, Arsenal have managed to keep a clean sheet in five of their last seven in the league and their defence has looked pretty solid throughout this campaign, only Newcastle (11) have conceded fewer goals than Arsenal (14).
