Fantasy Football Tipster: Gameweek 10

It's gameweek 10 in the Premier League and we're back again with another fantasy football tipster to ensure you have the upper hand over friends and colleagues alike this weekend.

Opting for a 3-4-3 formation once again, we've picked an XI that should be heavily involved in the next round of Premier League fixtures, with a few of budget buys thrown in amongst some high-profile names this time around.

The following players have been selected based on form and the probability that they will have an impact in this weekend's games based on our WhoScored match forecasts. If a player's strength matches up to the weakness of an opponent than the likelihood is that they would have been considered for selection here.

Goalkeeper

We start in goal, where this week we have picked Sunderland's Belgian stopper Simon Mignolet to help his side continue their impressive defensive record. The Black Cats host Villa this weekend, with manager Martin O'Neill's former club netting just twice on the road in 5 league matches. With Sunderland conceding just twice at The Stadium of Light, the chances of many goals flying past Mignolet on Saturday seem slim.

Defence

For the second week in a row Kyle Walker makes his way into our backline as Spurs again face a somewhat favourable opponent, with Wigan making the trip to the capital. Villas-Boas' side will be strong favourites and despite struggling to shut teams out this season, they shouldn't be too troubled by The Latics' attack. The forecast suggests that the home side will create many scoring chances and of all defenders in the league, only Leighton Baines has set up more than the England right-back (20).

West Brom centre-back Gareth McAuley has proven to be a real fantasy football gem this season, mainly down to The Baggies form at The Hawthorns. Clarke's side play at home again on Monday against a lowly Southampton side and will be keen for another shutout having conceded just 4 goals as hosts this season. The Saints have only scored 4 on their travels compared to their free-scoring home form, so McAuley could have another good points tally come Monday night.

Completing our back three is Chelsea centre-back Gary Cahill, currently filling in for the suspended John Terry. The England international has only started 5 league games this season but netted twice already, most recently against Spurs, as well as scoring a consolation goal in the Super Cup defeat to Atletico. He should pose a real threat to a Swansea side that are weak at defending set pieces according to their WhoScored characteristics.

Midfield

Gareth Bale is the second of a strong Tottenham contingent in our tipster this week, looking to score back-to-back goals since coming back into the side after the birth of his first child. The Welshman has netted three times in his last 5 leagues games, as well as scoring a brace on recent international duty. With 2.5 key passes and a hefty 3.6 shots per game the winger is likely to be busy against Wigan this weekend.

Perhaps the league's in form player, Juan Mata is tipped to stretch his superb run as Chelsea travel to Swansea on Saturday. The Spaniard, currently at the centre of yet another racism row, has netted 5 goals and registered 5 assists in 7 matches in all competitions. With The Blues set to score as a result of an opposition error according to the match forecast, on current form Mata looks the most likely to pounce on any mistake from The Swans' defence.

Joining him in the heart of our midfield is fit again Marouane Fellaini, who is likely to pose a real aerial threat to Fulham. Everton are tipped to score from a set piece according to the match forecast, with Fulham conceding 3 times from such situations thus far. The Belgian has 2 from set pieces himself this season and, playing in an advanced position, has been a menace in the opposition box, averaging 4 shots per game.

Completing our midfield is Zoltan Gera, who has returned to form with a goal and an assist in his last 3 league appearances for the club, as well as netting on international duty with Hungary. With West Brom deemed 'likely' to score from a wingplay situation against Southampton according to the match forecast, Gera will hope to be able to feed the likes of Lukaku or Long up front, as he did with a magnificent ball to the former in the game at Newcastle.

Attack

Up front it is hard to resist the likelihood that Robin van Persie will come back to haunt his former club Arsenal in the big game this weekend. United will be keen to put in a similar display to the one that saw them romp to an 8-2 win against The Gunners last season, and the Dutchman will be first in line to exploit any slip ups from the Arsenal backline on Saturday afternoon. With the hosts 'likely' to score as a result of an opposition error according to our forecast, we're tipping van Persie to show no mercy this weekend.

Leading our line, and captain of our XI this time out, is Jermain Defoe. The far from shot shy front man faces a Wigan side against whom he has had most joy in his career. In 11 matches against The Latics, Defoe has scored 10 goals, with 5 coming in a 9-1 annihilation back in 2009. The England forward should have plenty more chances to stretch that tally this weekend, and having misfired last week, we're tipping a return to form at White Hart Lane.

Completing our line-up is Fulham playmaker Bryan Ruiz, whose impact from the bench against Reading was plain to see. Returning from injury, the Costa Rican picked up a goal and an assist - his fourth of the season with regards to the latter. His goal last weekend came from range, and with Fulham tipped to score a long shot once again in the match forecast, Ruiz could be the thorn in Everton's side again after scoring in this fixture last season.
