1. RENATO AUGUSTO (BRAZIL VS COSTA RICA)
After making an underwhelming start to the 2018 World Cup, drawing 1-1 with Switzerland, Brazil head coach Tite may consider making changes when his side face Costa Rica on Friday.
Neymar is an injury concern for the South American side and that could mean one enforced change to the starting XI, but Tite may also consider Paulinho’s role in midfield.
Renato Augusto was expected to start in Brazil’s three-man midfield but Tite has instead turned to Philippe Coutinho as a third midfielder after his success in that position for Liverpool and Barcelona last season.
Coutinho will move into the front three if Neymar fails to prove his fitness in time but Augusto could slot into midfield anyway, replacing Paulinho, who struggled to make any impact against Switzerland.
Augusto was a regular for Brazil during qualification and it would not be a risk fielding the 30-year-old against Costa Rica.
In fact, only Oscar (8.43) and Hulk (8.29) have secured a higher WhoScored rating than Augusto (8.15) in the Chinese Super League this season.

2. ALFRED FINNBOGASON (ICELAND VS NIGERIA)

3. XHERDAN SHAQIRI (SWIZTERLAND VS SERBIA)
Many expected Brazil to steam through Switzerland in the opening round of group games but the European side battled well to a 1-1 draw.
Xherdan Shaqiri offered little defensive protection to veteran defender Stephan Lichtsteiner against the South American giants but did provide the only bit of quality in attack.
It was from Shaqiri’s pin-point corner that Switzerland scored their equaliser against Brazil and the Stoke ace will be their creative spark when they face Serbia on Friday.
Serbia are tipped by many to be dark horses at the 2018 World Cup and it will be another difficult outing for Switzerland.
Shaqiri will leave Stoke this summer after their relegation from the Premier League and there is no better shop window than the World Cup.
