Arsenal to spend big for Aston Villa star? Monday's top transfer rumours

Arsenal will need to spend big if they are to sign a number one midfield target, while the Gunners and Manchester United are set to lock horns in pursuit of a young Dutch striker. Here we take a look at Monday's top transfer rumours

Arsenal told to spend £50m for Aston Villa star

Arsenal have been informed that they'll need to spend up to £50m to convince Aston Villa to sell star midfielder Douglas Luiz this summer, reports the Mirror.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move for the 26-year-old as they look to bulk up their midfield.

Villa, though, are reluctant to lose the Brazil international in the off-season and are demanding a hefty fee for the player.

Arsenal are also in the market for a striker in order to assemble a squad capable of overhauling Manchester City at the top of the table.

Man Utd to rival Arsenal for Bologna hitman

Manchester United and Arsenal are both still interested in Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee as the pair aim to add a new striker this summer, reports Sky Sports.

Zirkzee was key as the Italian side secured a top-four finish last season and the Dutchman has attracted interest from a number of elite sides.

Serie A outfit AC Milan are also monitoring the 23-year-old, who scored 11 and provided four assists in Italy's top tier last term.

Everton in talks to sign Chelsea outcast

Everton are in talks with Chelsea over a £30m move for out-of-favour striker Armando Broja, reports Ben Jacobs.

Broja spent the second half of last season on loan at Fulham having struggled for minutes at Chelsea.

The 22-year-old failed to make a sustained impact at Craven Cottage, with all eight appearances coming from the bench.

Manchester City set to reward Foden with bumper contract

Manchester City are tipped to make Phil Foden the highest-paid British player in history as they look to reward his fine form, reports the Sun.

Foden was named Premier League Player and FWA Footballer of the Year for his role in City's title triumph.

And City are prepared to tie the 24-year-old down to a new deal, which would see the midfielder paid £375,000 per week.

Wolves set to sign young Portuguese winger

Wolves have agreed a deal with Braga to sign young Portuguese winger Rodrigo Gomes, according to the Athletic.

The 20-year-old spent last season on loan at Estoril, where he scored seven and provided an additional seven assists for the Liga Portugal side.

Gomes is set to move to Molineux for £12.7m and put pen to paper on a five year deal with Gary O'Neil's side.

Bayern lodge offer for Fulham star

Bayern have lodged a £30m bid for Fulham ball winner Joao Palhinha, reports the Mail.

Both player and club reportedly agreed personal terms over the weekend, with Palhinha keen to wrap up a deal before Euro 2024 gets underway.

The 28-year-old is set to start for Roberto Martinez's side in Germany, with Portugal considered one of the tournament favourites.

Man City earmark Wharton as long-term transfer target

Manchester City have earmarked Adam Wharton as a long-term transfer target, reports the Evening Standard.

Wharton has made a superb impression following his January move to Crystal Palace, culminating in a spot in Gareth Southgate's Euro 2024 squad.

City are not expected to make a move for Wharton this summer but believe he'd be the perfect addition in the future.
