Serie A round-up: Ronaldo piped to star man status by perfect 10 rated striker

Juventus capitalised on Napoli’s draw with Fiorentina to re-open an 11-point lead at the top of Serie A with a 3-0 win away to Sassuolo on Sunday. There were hardly any shocks across gameweek 23 in Serie A, as Frosinone were the only side in the bottom half of the table to win, beating Sampdoria 1-0 away from home.

5. Marco Capuano (Frosinone) – 8.53 rating

Frosinone’s 1-0 win away to Sampdoria was their second in their last three league outings and they are now just two points adrift of safety. Marco Capuano was part of the Frosinone defence that prevent Sampdoria from scoring in a  home league game for the first time since October. Capuano won six aerial duels, completed nine tackles and interceptions combined and made eight clearances.

4. Stephan El Shaarawy (Roma) – 8.57 rating

Roma prepared for the return of the Champions League with a 3-0 win away to Chievo. Stephan El Shaarawy netted his eighth league goal of the season in the victory, scoring once from three efforts on goal. The Italy international also completed five dribbles, his joint most in a Serie A match this season, and registered two key passes.

3. Salvatore Sirigu (Torino) – 8.58 rating

Torino have now kept three clean sheets in a row after beating Udinese 1-0 on Sunday but have Salvatore Sirigu to thank for their latest victory. The experienced goalkeeper saved a 74th-minute penalty when Torino were 1-0 up to help secure all three points for Walter Mazzarri’s side. That was one of three saves made by the 32-year-old, while the Italian also won one aerial duel and completed 86% of his passes.

2. Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus) – 9.06 rating

Cristiano Ronaldo took his league tally to 18 for the season after netting in Juventus’ 3-0 win away to Sassuolo on Sunday. The 34-year-old has scored in nine straight away league matches and even weighed in with an assist at the weekend. Ronaldo had four attempts on goal against Sassuolo, while also winning three aerial duels. The Juventus No.7 also completed two dribbles in another impressive outing.

1. Edin Dzeko (Roma) – 10.0 rating

After a fairly poor campaign, Edin Dzeko now has now played a direct hand in four goals in his last three league matches, with two WhoScored Man of the Match awards in that time. Dzeko scored one and provided one assist in a 3-0 win over Chievo to help earn a perfect WhoScored 10 rating. The 32-year-old had six attempts on goal and won four aerial duels, while also making two tackles. Dzeko also completed three dribbles, which is a personal record for the Bosnian in a Serie A match this season.
