Premier League round-up: Manchester City star excels in 5-0 win at Cardiff

 

Manchester City maintained their unbeaten start to the Premier League season with a resounding 5-0 win at Cardiff on Saturday afternoon. Pep Guardiola’s side made light work of the Bluebirds in Wales as goals from Riyad Mahrez, Ilkay Gundogan, Sergio Aguero and Bernardo Silva each got on the scoresheet, with the former netting twice from the bench.

Indeed, Silva scored one and assisted another at Cardiff, with those coming from returns of two shots and four key passes, as the Portuguese star impressed at the Cardiff City Stadium. 

 

Securing bronze in the Premier League this week is German midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, who, as mentioned above, netted in the 5-0 win over Cardiff. Sandwiched between the City pair is Leicester striker Jamie Vardy, who impressed in the Foxes’ 3-1 win over Huddersfield. After a disappointing return to action following suspension in a 4-2 loss at Bournemouth, Vardy scored one and assisted another in a man of the match performance against the Terriers. Vardy’s goal came from seven shots and his assist from two key passes as the 31-year-old did enough to secure a WhoScored rating of 8.87.

Asmir Begovic foots the player ratings table this week after a shambolic showing in Bournemouth’s 4-0 loss at Burnley. Following an impressive outing against Leicester last week, the Bosnian was poor at Turf Moor as he conceded four goals from just five shots on target faced. He claimed just one cross in the loss as he returned a WhoScored rating of 5.48.
