Season so far

West Ham made an excellent start to the season, securing all the spoils against Newcastle and Leicester in the opening weeks of 2021/22. However, they were held by both Crystal Palace and Southampton, respectively, either side of the international break and it means they have picked up eight points from their opening four games of the season. They are one of four teams yet to lose a Premier League match this term.

Manchester United are another of those four teams and sit two points clear of the Hammers ahead of their trip to the London Stadium. United, like West Ham, were held to a draw at Southampton, but secured maximum points against Leeds, Wolves and Newcastle, and are unbeaten in their last 28 away league matches, which includes a 3-1 win in this game last season.

Team News

West Ham boss David Moyes is unable to call upon top scorer Michail Antonio after his red card at Southampton last week. Antonio received his marching orders late on, yet the 31-year-old is the Hammers' only primary absentee concern. Jarrod Bowen should lead the charge as a result, while Kurt Zouma, who impressed against Dinamo Zagreb on Thursday night, is in line to make his Premier League debut for West Ham, with Moyes perhaps changing shape to accomdate the Frenchman alongside Craig Dawson and Angelo Ogbonna in a three-man defence.

Scott McTominay is back in training for Manchester United and will be assessed, as will Alex Telles. Dean Henderson and Phil Jones are close to return to fitness for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side, but Marcus Rashford, Amad Diallo and Edinson Cavani miss the trip to the capital. Jadon Sancho has disappointed in a Manchester United shirt, so Solskjaer may drop the England international in place of compatriot Jesse Lingard, who enjoyed a successful stint with West Ham in the second half of last season.

West Ham vs Man Utd: Premier League team news and prediction

West Ham secured the services of Kurt Zouma prior to the summer transfer deadline in what is a statement signing from the Hammers. The Frenchman was on the bench at Southampton last weekend, yet made his debut for West Ham in their 2-0 win at Dinamo Zagreb on Thursday night and put in a solid shift for the west London outfit. He, and West Ham fans, will be hoping for a repeat as Zouma faces down Cristiano Ronaldo this weekend.

Raphael Varane must have counted his blessings when Michail Antonio was dismissed at St. Mary's last week. Zouma's international teammate has been solid since his arrival from Real Madrid, yet a showdown with Antonio would have been his toughest test to date in a Manchester United shirt. Jarrod Bowen is still a handful for opposition defences, and it's important United don't get complacent, but the 28-year-old should feel confidening of keeping the Hammers offensive at bay.

Score Prediction: West Ham 2-2 Man Utd
