Team News

Hertha Berlin
Leverkusen
  • Centre-backs John Brook and Sebastian Langkamp both return from suspension to start in the back-four.
  • Marvin Plattenhardt is fully fit again and starts at left-back, while Maximilian Mittelstädt already left Germany to take part in the U-20 World Cup in South Korea.
  • Allan is the first option in central midfield, if Per Skjelbred and Niklas Stark both fail to recover from minor injuries in time.
  • Tin Jedvaj could get another chance at centre-back, if Ömer Toprak does not recover from injury in time.
  • Charles Aránguiz could get another chance in central midfield, with the Kevin Kampl expected to miss this match after suffering an ankle injury.
  • Leon Bailey, Karim Bellarabi, Admir Mehmedi and Joel Pohjanpalo all provide options in attacking positions, if manager Tayfun Korkut decides to rotate there.

Prediction

  • Hertha need a win to secure qualification to the Europa League without being dependent on other results, but are in promising position in any case, with Freiburg playing at Bayern this weekend. They have won 12 of their 16 home games this season, which has kept them in the running for a top-6 spot despite their very poor away record.
  • Leverkusen have failed to win any of their last six Bundesliga matches, but secured top-flight safety with a draw at Köln last weekend. Interim manager Tayfun Korkut has only picked up one win in 10 league games to end a very disappointing season.
  • Expect Hertha to try to secure a Europa League spot against a team that has nothing to play for anymore.
