Team News

Racing Club
Defensa y Justicia
  • Marcelo Diaz looks to be fit and the Chilean replacing Nery Dominguez might be the only change to the side that drew with Tigre.
  • Augusto Solari scored the all important goal to seal the point needed to win the title and he continues on the right of the attack.
  • Superliga top scorer Lisandro Lopez continues up front with Dario Cvitanich.
  • Matias Rojas scored yet another free kick in the draw with Union last week and starts in midfield with Leonel Miranda and Domingo Blanco.
  • Nicolas Fernandez continues to lead the attack and the only doubt is whether Bautista Merlini or Ignacio Aliseda gets the nod on the left.
  • Alexander Barboza has been speaking about the prospect of returning to River this week but the captain starts in central defence.

Prediction

  • Racing's draw alongside Defensa y Justicia's failure to beat Union denied the chance of this being a title decider and so instead La Academia celebrate their title triumph against the underdogs that pushed them so far. La Academia have been tremendous and with the best attack and the best defence in the league no one could begrudge them the trophy.
  • A dip in form at just the wrong time cost Defensa y Justicia, but despite missing out on the title, it has been a sensational campaign for the club. Unbeaten for the vast majority of it, El Halcon have still only lost twice and built on a solid defence, have attacked sides with their attractive, dynamic brand of football.
  • A party atmosphere at the Cilindro will accompany the game and with nothing to play for, expect Racing to send their supporters home even happier with a win.
