Team News

Banfield
Newell's Old Boys
  • Hernan Crespo may go with an unchanged side to the one that lost to Boca in La Bombonera last week.
  • Jesus Datolo rattled the woodwork in that game and continues in behind centre forward Julian Carranza.
  • Facundo Cambeses starts in goal behind a settled back four.
  • Maxi Rodriguez and cousin Alexis both scored in the win over Huracán and will continue up front for Newell's.
  • Juan Requena continues in midfield with Jeronimo Cacciabue and Facundo Nadalin.
  • Fabricio Fontanini is paired with Teodoro Paredes in central defence.

Prediction

  • Banfield were fuming at the decisions that went against them in La Bombonera and while Hernan Crespo has often been left frustrated by his side's defending or in this instance the officiating, there have been plenty of positives since the former Argentina striker took over. El Taladro are posing a real threat in front of goal and now need to convert those into wins.
  • After three straight defeats and a position in the promedios for next season that confirms Newell's are in the thick of a relegation battle, last week's win over Huracan was much needed. Maxi Rodriguez displayed just how important he is to the attack and when the veteran plays, La Lepra always have a chance.
  • Banfield have been better than results perhaps show and a home game against Newell's will be one where there can be no more excuses.
