Team News

Rosario Central
Independiente
  • Leonardo Gil suffered a knee injury after scoring in the win over Argentinos Juniors and it could see Joaquin Pereyra start in midfield.
  • Matias Caruzzo will likely not be risked after the midweek game against Libertad in the Copa Libertadores and so Marcelo Ortiz could start in central defence.
  • German Herrera is set to continue up front with Maxi Lovera behind in support.
  • Silvio Romero scored a much needed goal in the win over Velez last weekend and will continue up front hoping to continue this run.
  • Pablo Perez netted the winner and will continue in midfield alongside Nicolas Domingo after he served a one-match suspension.
  • Nicolas Figal is an option once more, but Ariel Holan may opt for Alan Franco and Emanuel Brítez in central defence.

Prediction

  • Victory over Argentinos Juniors was a first in 11 Superliga matches and a fine start for Diego Cocca, but it didn't follow in the Copa Libertadores and with a group stage exit on the horizon, Central need to give everything to their game with Gremio next week. Players will likely not be risked as nothing rides on the last game of the season for El Canalla.
  • It's been a really poor season for Independiente, but a good week ahead of the final game. Victory over Velez last weekend was a second consecutive home win and El Rojo made light work of Peruvian club Binacional in midweek in the Copa Sudamericana. Ariel Holan and the players will now be eager to finish on a high, find some form and ensure Copa Sudamericana qualification.
  • With Central's attention elsewhere, Independiente might just secure a first away win since November.
