Team News

San Martin de Tucuman
San Lorenzo
  • Adrian Arregui's red card in the draw with Estudiantes could see Julian Vitale return if fit to start in midfield.
  • Gonzalo Rodriguez scored in La Plata and should continue up front with Nicolas Gimenez perhaps for support.
  • With Jorge Carranza likely still missing, Pedro Fernandez may continue in goal.
  • Marcos Senesi's suspension may force only one change to the side that drew with Gimnasia; Gonzalo Rodriguez coming in at centre back.
  • Adolfo Gaich may continue to lead the attack with San Lorenzo eager to rest players for the Copa Libertadores.
  • That may also see a midfield three of Geronimo Poblete, Ariel Rojas and Manuel Insaurralde.

Prediction

  • Battling back to earn a point against Estudiantes with 10 men was admirable and there have been a positives for San Martin during this campaign. However, ultimately they didn't have enough to fight off relegation and with the worst defensive record in the top flight, it's difficult to argue it isn't deserved.
  • Still not utterly convincing, but slowly San Lorenzo appear to be moving in the right direction. Three unbeaten in the league and top of their Copa Libertadores group ,perhaps Jorge Almiron is beginning to get a grip of his team. For now pending their appeal, the points deduction isn't in place, but San Lorenzo are desperate not to end the season bottom.
  • San Lorenzo would ordinarily be favourites against an already relegated side, but San Martin showed they are still willing to fight for points against Estudiantes and the visitors will be under strength due to the Copa Libertadores.
