- Davide Biraschi and Edoardo Goldaniga were back on the bench after injury last weekend to boost Genoa's options.
- Former Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro is expected to miss out, however.
- Former AC Milan midfielder Riccardo Saponara will likely have to settle for a place on the bench on Saturday.
- Antonio Sanabria earned an impressive rating of 7.15 on his first start of the season in Genoa's 4-0 defeat to Lazio and could get another chance here.
- Mateo Musacchio is suspended for AC Milan this weekend after being sent off in their 3-1 defeat at home to Fiorentina last week. With Mattia Caldara still sidelined, Léo Duarte could make his full league debut for the club.
- There have been few positives to AC Milan's season so far and Marco Giampaolo could soon find himself under heavy pressure to keep his job unless things change quickly. Do not rule out a formation change here.
- Rafael Leão scored his first Milan goal in sensational fashion against Fiorentina and will start again here. It would be a major statement dropping Krzysztof Piatek against his old club, but if Giampaolo opts to play with one central striker then it will be Leao.
- Samu Castillejo or Ante Rebic could partner Suso behind the main striker if the Milan head coach reverts to a 4-3-2-1 formation on Saturday.
- Lucas Paquetá was fit enough to make the bench against Fiorentina and his return from injury is a huge boost for the away side. Though he lacks match sharpness, Giampaolo may throw him in from the off here.
