- Ellis Chapman remains "a good bit off" according to Michael Duff but has been out on the grass running. Liam Sercombe trained fully on Friday, but the management team are keen to manage his recovery carefully.
- Luckily for Duff, other midfielders like Finn Azaz and Conor Thomas have stepped up superbly in the absence of Chapman and Sercombe.
- Will Boyle is not as bad as Michael Duff first thought and it looks like he'll be out for five more weeks, rather than the whole season.
- Elliot Bonds is out for the Robins while George Lloyd is a doubt.
- David Worrall missed the last three games with a swollen ankle; the sooner Port Vale get their creator in chief back fit, the better.
- Shaun Brisley is a doubt and Mustapha Olagunju missed the last match-day squad, so Nathan Smith, Leon Legge and Adam Crookes could once again line-up in central defence.
