Team News

Cheltenham
Port Vale
  • Ellis Chapman remains "a good bit off" according to Michael Duff but has been out on the grass running. Liam Sercombe trained fully on Friday, but the management team are keen to manage his recovery carefully.
  • Luckily for Duff, other midfielders like Finn Azaz and Conor Thomas have stepped up superbly in the absence of Chapman and Sercombe.
  • Will Boyle is not as bad as Michael Duff first thought and it looks like he'll be out for five more weeks, rather than the whole season.
  • Elliot Bonds is out for the Robins while George Lloyd is a doubt.
  • David Worrall missed the last three games with a swollen ankle; the sooner Port Vale get their creator in chief back fit, the better.
  • Shaun Brisley is a doubt and Mustapha Olagunju missed the last match-day squad, so Nathan Smith, Leon Legge and Adam Crookes could once again line-up in central defence.
  • Target man Tom Pope remains sidelined.

Prediction

  • Thanks to a 1-0 win over Southend in midweek, Cheltenham went top of League Two; the Robins have won their last three games to nil and look very well-drilled under Michael Duff, while Callum Wright has made a real impact since joining on loan from Leicester.
  • Port Vale find themselves winless in five, led by new manager Darrell Clarke in four of those encounters, and are without a goal in three.
  • The Burslem outfit lean heavily on David Worrall, who has assisted 10 of their 41 goals and scored another three, but the seasoned wide forward's recent injury has left the out-of-form Valiants short on quality.
