British media has been telling us about what a good job Gerrard is doing since he came, yet Villa finished with 55 points last season and they're at 45 points now. Balloon as a player and manager, City to destroy his title dreams for Liverpool as usual.
@Byakuya - Villa collected 10 points in the opening 11 matches with Smith (0,91/match). After Gerrard was appointed, they've garnered 35 in 26 matches (1,35/match). Are you blaming him for the bad start when he wasn't even there? Are you sure he's the balloon and not you?

@Byakuya - So he's supposed to immediately fix the team on the brink of the relegation zone, find chemistry without a pre-season to build it and collect more points even though Smith lost to the likes of Watford and Southampton and Gerrard still had 4 matches of Man City and Liverpool? Interesting idea for a mid-table team, tell me more!
@andrew7taylor You're trying to say that he would get over 60 points and sit on 6th spot if he had a pre-season? He got a team at 16th spot with 27 games ahead and finished as 14th, what a remarkable success.

You're trying to say that he definitely wouldn't have any chance to improve upon Smith's results if he had a whole summer to build instead of being dropped into the team with confidences in the toilet after a 4-match losing run?
@andrew7taylor If not over 60 points, what improvement you're talking about? Last season 55 points, how many points he would get if had whole summer and other 11 games? I'm not trying to say, I'm directly saying that carrying a team from 16th to 14th with 27 games ahead has nothing special to talk about. All that hype and still mid-table team, let's see if he will get them to at least Conference League next season and then tell me about improvement.

@andrew7taylor You're saying that to a guy with finance degree, I'm sure you won't even be helpful to your child's math problems with this logic. You're comparing almost quarter of their games with the rest of whole season, you can't say he improved the team a lot with all that time in his hands especially after finishing in a worse position than last year. Best team not always win, but let's say Gerrard could've won those small games and he still wouldn't get over 60 points. Villa built a better squad in overall after Grealish, they had him when they finished with 35 points as well. Less than 40 points with this squad would be a failure, he did just OK and nothing extraordinary to make news which makes him a balloon.

Well, I can’t quite believe how quickly a 2-0 lead was blown, but at the same time, it’s hard to argue against City just about deserving the title. It’s an era where both teams deserve it but sadly this is just what can happen.
