Team News

Real Sociedad
Sevilla
  • Carlos Fernandez is out until the New Year with a knee injury, while Nacho Monreal won't return until the end of this month.
  • Diego Rico is another who remains out injured, along with Jon Guridi, who is sidelined until October.
  • Ander Barrenetxea has suffered a back injury and is a doubt here, missing the trip to the Netherlands during the week, and Asier Illarramendi is also a doubt with a muscular strain.
  • There's a clean bill of health for Sevilla heading into this one, but there are some decisions for Julen Lopetegui to make.
  • The main one is out on the left, where Erik Lamela is likely to start after an impressive performance during the week.
  • Papu Gomez and Lucas Ocampos are the other options there.
  • Few changes are expected elsewhere despite a poor performance during the week.
  • Youssef En-Nesyri is eligible despite his red card on Wednesday with that suspension only valid in the Champions League.

Prediction

  • Real Sociedad picked up an away point in the Europa League on Thursday, overcoming a one-goal deficit to take the lead thanks to goals from Adnan Januzaj and Alexander Isak, who is quickly accruing confidence.
  • La Real went on to concede a PSV equaliser just nine minutes after half time, but the draw away from home will be seen as a good result, though the defensive issues that came up can't be ignored.
  • Last time out in the league, La Real picked up a comfortable 2-0 away win over Cadiz thanks to a brace from Mikel Oyarzabal, narrow wins over each of Levante and Rayo Vallecano, leaving Imanol Alguacil's men on nine points for the season.
  • That's a very respectable return, especially with the injuries La Real currently have, but they face a very tough task here.
  • Sevilla put in a disappointment during the week in a chaotic draw with RB Salzburg at home, conceding three penalties. Fortunately for Julen Lopetegui's men, just one of those penalties was scored, and Sevilla managed to score one of their own.
  • That uncharacteristically uncontrolled display followed a disappointing draw with Elche last time out in La Liga for Sevilla before the international break, so a response is required here.
  • Though, they face a tough test away to a strong Real Sociedad side, and given both of these teams come into this one off the back of European efforts during the week, this could well be a low-scoring draw.
