Team News

Galatasaray
Istanbul Basaksehir
  • Samuel Adekugbe was given personal leave to attend to his uncle's funeral back home. Leo Dubois is expected to start at left back.
  • Turkish FA requires teams to field at least three Turkish players so Berkan Kutlu is expected to start here.
  • Eden Karzev is sidelined with a long term injury.
  • Patryk Szysz, who wasn't expected to start against Galatasaray, is also injured.
  • Lucas Biglia, Mahmut Tekdemir, Ahmed Touba, and Omer Sahiner have served their suspension and will all return to the starting XI.

Prediction

  • Galatasaray were beaten 3-1 by Besiktas last time out. This was one of their worst performances under Buruk, who was tactically outmaneuvered by Gunes. The latter showed that in order to nullify Gala's attacking threat, teams need to control midfield and press aggressively to force their error-prone defenders make mistakes. With only three points between them and Fenerbahce, Buruk knows the title race is far from being over. This will be a very tense and nervous 90 minutes for the leaders.
  • Basaksehir defeated Giresunspor 4-2 last time out. They then won the first leg of Turkish Cup semi final, beating Ankaragucu 1-0. After a nightmarish few weeks marked by injuries and suspensions, Belozoglu will be able to field his strongest XI here. Gala had won the game played in Basaksehir's home 7-0 and the cup game played after that was scene to violent altercations between players and coaches alike.
  • Belozoglu spent years at Gala as a player but called Fenerbahce, with whom he signed after returning from a few seasons in Italy and England, his real home. Nothing would delight him more than putting a spoke in Gala's wheels. Expect an aggressive performance and goals by both sides here.
