Prediction

  • Real Madrid come into this game off the back of a shock defeat to Villareal. It was the first time their starting lineup had zero Spanish players and the 2-1 loss meant they lost ground in the title race. They qualified for the Super Cup after winning the LaLiga title last year. Ancelotti's side won the trophy last year after beating Athletic Club 2-0 in the final and will be looking to secure the cup for the 12th time in their history.
  • Valencia finished runners-up in the Copa del Rey last year, losing to Real Betis on 5-4 on penalties. Like their opponents, they are not in great form at the moment having lost back-to-back league games. Despite having 74% possession against relegation battlers Cadiz in their last game, they only managed two shots on target in the match and went on to lose 1-0.
  • Real have won each of the last three meetings between the two sides, but they are yet to face each other this season. Benzema and Vinicius Junior both scored a brace during the last fixture back in January 2022 as Los Blancos won 4-1.
