Team News

Getafe
Athletic Club
  • All of Getafe's injured players will likely spend another week on the sidelines with the earliest return dates discussed being mid May by their medical team.
  • Mason Greenwood and Jaime Mata scored three goals between them in the 3-1 victory over the now relegated Almeria - they should be the preferred pivot for the Athletic Club challenge.
  • Aitor Paredes returns from his injury and should slot in to central defence alongside Dani Vivian.
  • Oscar De Marcos returns from suspension, whilst Yuri Berchiche is out with contusion.
  • Inigo Ruiz de Galarreta had to come off in the 69th minute against Atletico Madrid. He will undergo treatment for a thigh injury with Mikel Vesga the likeliest to pair with Benat Prados.

Prediction

  • Athletic Club make the trip to Madrid for the second consecutive week, chasing their losses after a very disappointing defeat against Atletico Madrid on Saturday. Getafe are a tough side to face at their stadium, though they will likely prove a little easier for Ernesto Valverde to break down - the reverse fixture, though, ended as a 2-2 draw.
  • Getafe could be looking at a late push for Europe if they can muster an unlikely victory on Friday night - what would be their second consecutive victory for the first time since December. On the other hand, Athletic Club are on an awful run and are winless since the 16th of March - their worst losing streak to date this season. This one is a must win for the visitors if they want to be considered for the Champions League next year.
  • Expect this one to be a fun Friday night clash, with plenty of heart shown by Getafe. Athletic Club should break their winless streak here, though.
