Team News

Valencia
Deportivo Alaves
  • The ever reliable Giorgio Mamardashvili is suspended for this one after picking up a straight red in the Barca clash - Jaume Domenech will have to deputise for him against Alaves.
  • Other than Mouctar Diakhaby and Jose Gaya, Valencia can boast of a fully fit squad.
  • 21-year-old Peter Gonzalez managed 79 minutes against El Blau Grana and could keep his starting spot on the right of midfield.
  • Abdel Aqbar and Rafa Marin return to Alaves' defensive ranks and will likely both be straight back in the starting eleven to face Valencia.
  • Alex Sola may be looking at ending the season as - statistically - La Liga's best dribbler with the most favourable dribble take on volume and success metrics out of the 900 players in the league.

Prediction

  • Valencia welcome Alaves to the south coast in aims to extend their two point lead over Villarreal in eighth place. The reverse fixture between these two ended 1-0 to a spritely Alaves back in September.
  • Since that time, though, Valencia have thrived through solidarity and consistency in their performances and now sit only four points from a Europa Conference League spot. Alaves meanwhile, find themselves at the summit of a very tight bottom half of the table. Whilst they may be about safe, they will need to keep their wits about them for the remainder of the season.
  • Alaves have failed to score in the last four matches on the road, but still have the quality and heart to really hurt Valencia, as they have many other top half teams this season.
