Team News

Livingston
Motherwell
  • Davie Martindale named four changes to the Livingston team that was swept aside in a 4-0 defeat at Ibrox in their Scottish League Cup quarter-final against Rangers before Livi claimed a point in Perth thanks to a 1-1 draw with St Johnstone.
  • Tom Penrice took Luiyi De Lucas' spot in the Lions' back four. Two changes came in middle of the park as Mo Sangare and Andrew Shinnie replaced Daniel Mackay and Stephen Kelly in the midfield diamond.
  • Livi's sole goal came from Sean Kelly's spot-kick but that proved enough to claim a point. In attack, Bruce Anderson partnered Joel Nouble up front at Kurtis Guthrie's expense.
  • Stuart Kettlewell named an unchanged eleven despite Motherwell's 1-0 defeat at Ibrox against Rangers, before a late sickener saw them lose 2-1 to Celtic in heartbreaking fashion last Saturday lunchtime at Fir Park.
  • Paul McGinn continued to accompany Bevis Mugabi and Dan Casey in the Well's back three in front of goalkeeper Liam Kelly. Stephen O'Donnell and Brodie Spencer continued at right and left wing-back respectively.
  • Harry Paton and Lennon Miller started in Motherwell's midfield once again with Callum Slattery and Blair Spittal - who scored the Well's first league goal in three games which looked like an equaliser - supporting lone striker Theo Bair.

Prediction

  • Just three points separate Livingston in tenth place and fifth-placed Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership standings prior to this weekend's fixtures taking place.
  • Livi have won just one of their seven league games so far this season, a 3-2 thriller at Easter Road against Hibernian, but have only lost to last season's top two. The Lions can go toe-to-toe with any other team in the division on their day, scrapping for each and every point. This weekend's match with Motherwell should prove no different, in what will be a tough test for the Steelmen.
  • The Well have felt hard done by in recent weeks, with the Celtic game summing up their recent three-game run. First was a game they dominated - but lost - by a sole goal to St Mirren, that was the scoreline at Ibrox against Rangers where on another day it could've been different. But having scored a 95th-minute equaliser against Celtic, only to throw a point away, is truly devastating.
  • Livingston are one of only two teams yet to claim a home victory in the league this season, so Motherwell will fancy putting right their recent wrongs to nick three points in this one.
