Team News

Hibernian
Celtic
  • Nick Montgomery made two changes from the Hibernian team that battled back to claim a 2-2 draw in the Edinburgh derby against Hearts prior to the international break, before they were thumped 4-0 by Rangers at Ibrox last Saturday.
  • Paul Hanlon replaced Rocky Bushiri in the backline in order to join Lewis Miller, Will Fish and Jordan Obita in front of David Marshall. Élie Youan and Martin Boyle started on the flanks, with Joe Newell and Jimmy Jeggo in midfield.
  • The only other alteration saw Adam Le Fondre given the nod to start in attack, partnering Dylan Vente as Christian Doidge had to settle for a spot among the substitutes in Govan in the Hibees' first match after the international break.
  • Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers named an unchanged Celts side that brushed Hearts aside 4-1 at Tynecastle, before the Hoops were held at home 2-2 in their midweek match against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
  • Joe Hart continued in goal behind a back four of Alastair Johnston, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Liam Scales and Greg Taylor. Club captain Callum McGregor was joined by Matt O'Riley and Reo Hatate in the middle of the park.
  • Luis Palma and Daizen Maeda began on the flanks, both in support of main marksman Kyogo Furuhashi. The Japanese forward has netted in both Celtic matches since returning after the international break.

Prediction

  • Hibernian host Celtic, with the Hibees beginning the weekend in ninth place of the Scottish Premiership table as they prepare to take on the league leaders in Edinburgh.
  • The Hibees finally fell to their first defeat under Nick Montgomery, in an emphatic fashion at the hands of Rangers in Glasgow, after going five games unbeaten under the Englishman. Next weekend is of a bigger significance to Hibs, on the verge of reaching a League Cup final, but they'll want to play Aberdeen full of confidence after back-to-back games at Easter Road this week.
  • However, Hibernian's task is a tricky one given Celtic's scintillating recent form. They went toe-to-toe with a European powerhouse on Wednesday night, perhaps unfortunate not to get the better of Atletico Madrid in Glasgow, after a really commanding performance in the capital against Hearts in their last league game. The aim this weekend is to secure a ninth league win in ten matches.
  • Brendan Rodgers has never won at Easter Road as Celtic manager but, given the league leaders' last performance in Edinburgh, Hibs would do well to stop the Celts in their tracks on this occasion.
