Team News

Kilmarnock
Celtic
  • Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes named an unchanged Killie team despite a home defeat to Hearts with a sole goal proving the difference, but that was the case at Pittodrie as they clinched a first away win in the league this season.
  • Stuart Findlay, Robbie Deas and Lewis Mayo remained in defence. Corrie Ndaba started at left wing-back with Danny Armstrong on the right. Brad Lyons accompanied Liam Donnelly and midweek matchwinner David Watson in midfield.
  • Rory McKenzie and Matty Kennedy had dropped out of the starting eleven against the Jambos and onto the substitutes bench. Club captain Kyle Vassell continued to partner Marley Watkins up front.
  • Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers named three changes to the Celts side that won at the weekend with a 3-1 win in Perth against St Johnstone, before a 4-1 victory against Hibernian at Parkhead on Wednesday night.
  • David Turnbull took Paulo Bernardo's spot in midfield against St Johnstone, but made way for Tomoki Iwata to join two of the weekend’s goalscorers - Callum McGregor and Matt O’Riley - in midfield.
  • Mikey Johnston impressed off the bench at McDiarmid Park, and was given an opportunity against Hibs at Hyun-Jun Yang’s expense. Hyun-Gyu Oh was handed his chance up front, replacing Kyogo Furuhashi, and bagged a brace.

Prediction

  • Kilmarnock and Celtic meet for the second time at Rugby Park this season, Killie having handed the Hoops their only domestic defeat of the season so far when they knocked the holders out of the Scottish League Cup.
  • Prior to their win on Wednesday night, Killie were one of only two teams who were yet to claim three points on the road this season. Having put those demons to rest, and having already beaten Celtic in Ayrshire this season, confidence should be high ahead of this one.
  • Celtic don’t fancy a repeat of their worst domestic performance of the season at Rugby Park, so it was imperative that they produced a comprehensive win against a Hibs side that have proved a tough nut to crack. The league leaders are hoping for another victory to aid their defence of the league title.
  • Rangers host Dundee at Ibrox on Saturday, so the Hoops will hope to match or better their result and maintain the gap at the top of the table whilst gaining revenge on Kilmarnock.
