Team News

Hearts
Livingston
  • Hearts boss Steven Naismith made three changes after the Jambos were thumped 4-1 at Tynecastle by Celtic, before they suffered late heartbreak at Ibrox as two injury-time goals meant they lost 2-1 to Rangers on Sunday afternoon.
  • Odel Offiah started as Hearts shifted to three central defenders - Frankie Kent, Kye Rowles and Toby Sibbick - replacing Alan Forrest in the starting eleven. Beni Baningime took Cammy Devlin's place in the middle of the park.
  • Alex Lowry was ineligible to face Rangers, as he's on loan from the Gers, so made way for Jorge Grant to start. After eight games without a goal, the Jambos' main marksman Lawrence Shankland has scored two in as many league games.
  • Davie Martindale named two changes to the Livingston team that they succumbed to a 3-1 defeat in Ayrshire away to Kilmarnock, before they made it back-to-back defeats as they lost 2-0 to Dundee at the Tony Macaroni Arena on Saturday.
  • The suspended Cristian Montaño replaced Scott Pittman in the Lions' back three, as he joined club captain Mikey Devlin and Luiyi de Lucas. Sean Kelly moved into midfield, to join Jason Holt with James Penrice and Daniel Mackay on the flanks.
  • Steven Bradley took Mo Sangare's place, as he looked to provide ammunition for Joel Nouble and Bruce Anderson in the final third. Jamie Brandon, Andrew Shinnie and Kurtis Guthrie came off the bench at the weekend so are pushing to start.

Prediction

  • A point separates Hearts and Livingston in the Scottish Premiership table, as the Jambos are in seventh and Livi in ninth heading into the midweek matches.
  • It was a much improved showing from Hearts at the weekend, where they were minutes away from picking up a shock three points against Rangers at Ibrox. However, daft individual errors appear to have cost the Jambos a much-needed victory. Ahead of playing Rangers in Glasgow again, this time in the League Cup semi-final, they must get back to winning ways in this one.
  • Livingston have lost back-to-back Scottish Premiership games after picking up a huge three points of their own against Motherwell. Kilmarnock have claimed some big scalps in Ayrshire this season, but the defeat to Dundee at the weekend is a particularly sore one. The Lions were undefeated against Hearts last season but were unfortunate not to win on their last trip to Tynecastle.
  • Neither side are in great fettle, with one win apiece in their last four league games each, but Hearts will hope that they'll just have enough to sneak past Livingston in this one.
