Team News

St. Johnstone
Dundee FC
  • St Johnstone boss Steven MacLean made four changes to the Saints side that lost 2-0 in Dingwall against Ross County, before claiming a point at Parkhead in a 0-0 stalemate with Celtic on Saturday.
  • Left-back Luke Robinson was one of three debutants for Saints against the reigning champions, on loan from Wigan Athletic. Burnley loanee Dara Costelloe started on the right-hand side of midfield.
  • Newcastle United youngster Jay Turner-Cooke supported Luke Jephcott, Saints' only alteration who wasn't a debutant, in attack. Out dropped club captain Liam Gordon, Ryan McGowan, Cammy Ballantyne and Stevie May.
  • Dundee boss Tony Docherty made three changes from the Dee's 2-1 defeat to St Mirren in Paisley, as they responded with their first victory upon their return to the Premiership where they beat Hearts 1-0 at Dens Park.
  • Two of those alterations came on the right flank, with Cammy Kerr starting at right-back and Finlay Robertson on the right hand side of midfield. They replaced Lee Ashcroft and Josh Mulligan in the starting eleven.
  • Scott Tiffoney started on the left hand side, as Lyall Cameron made way. Luke McCowan grabbed the game's only goal with a cheeky chip as Zach Robinson and Amadou Bakayoko continued in attack.

Prediction

  • This Tayside derby sees a St Johnstone side, yet to win a Scottish Premiership match this season, host a Dundee team who have just won their first game upon their return to Scotland's top tier.
  • St Johnstone would've snapped your hand off to take a point from Parkhead against reigning champions and treble winners Celtic. A solid defensive performance kept the Hoops at bay, but Saints must find a goalscoring remedy if they're to start picking up points soon. Bizarrely though, despite not scoring a league goal yet, they moved above Hibernian who currently occupy bottom spot.
  • The longer Dundee left recording their first Scottish Premiership victory of the season, the trickier that task becomes. Thankfully, heading into this Tayside derby, the monkey is off their back after a solid display against Hearts. They'll want to grab consecutive league victories to keep the feel-good factor around for some time yet, alongside taking advantage of Saints' woes in front of goal.
  • However, the last two Tayside derby matches between St Johnstone and Dundee have ended in draws, so perhaps another one is on the cards here.
