Team News

Ross County
Celtic
  • Ross County boss Malky Mackay named two changes to the Staggies side which threw away two points in a 3-3 draw at Fir Park against Motherwell, before bouncing back to claim a point in a 2-2 draw at Easter Road against Hibernian.
  • Ben Purrington replaced George Harmon in the Staggies' starting eleven on Tuesday, scoring an own goal to hand the Hibees the lead. Kyle Turner joined Victor Loturi, Connor Randall and Scott Allardice in midfield.
  • Yan Dhanda dropped onto the bench, but claimed an assist for the first County goal. Jordan White netted the Staggies' equaliser in midweek, so could replace either one of strike duo Eamonn Brophy and Simon Murray in the starting lineup.
  • Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers named three changes to the Celts side that was held to a goalless draw at Easter Road against Hibernian last weekend, before they responded with a 2-1 win against St Mirren in their midweek match.
  • Cameron Carter-Vickers dropped out of the matchday squad on Wednesday night, as Liverpool loanee Nat Phillips joined Liam Scales at the back. Greg Taylor and Alastair Johnston continued as the full-backs.
  • David Turnbull replaced Paulo Bernardo in midfield, with Reo Hatate out until after Christmas. Daizen Maeda also dropped onto the bench, as James Forrest took his place on the right-hand side, with Luis Palma on the left supporting Kyogo Furuhashi.

Prediction

  • Ross County are winless in six Scottish Premiership matches, but are hoping to hand Celtic their first league defeat of the current campaign.
  • The Staggies have drawn their last three league games, a goalless draw away to Dundee before a 3-3 tie against Motherwell and battling back for a share of the spoils in a four-goal thriller against Hibs in midweek. The season before last, it took the league leaders until the 97th minute to claim all three points in the Highlands, so County can certainly hold their own against Celtic.
  • But the Hoops won all three league meetings and also knocked County out of the League Cup last season. This time around, Celtic created further distance between themselves and 3rd placed St Mirren, with an important victory over the Buddies in midweek. With Rangers distracted at Hampden, in the League Cup semi-final, this is a great chance to reclaim an eight-point lead at the top.
  • The league leaders haven't been overly impressive in their last two Scottish Premiership matches and Dingwall is a tough place to go, but Celtic should have enough to squeeze past Ross County in the early kickoff this weekend.
