Team News

Dundee FC
Celtic
  • Dundee boss Tony Docherty named one enforced change to the Dee team after they took the lead at Ibrox but lost 3-1 to Rangers, before leaving it late up in Dingwall as a 97th minute winner handed them a 1-0 win against Ross County.
  • Antonio Portales is injured, after picking up a hamstring injury, and he will sit on the sidelines for the next three months. Owen Beck returned to the team on Saturday, at left wing-back, in a slight defensive reshuffle.
  • Jordan McGhee, Lyall Cameron, Malachi Boateng and Luke McCowan all continued in midfield. In attack, Zak Rudden dropped onto the bench as Zach Robinson was handed a first start since September partnering Amadou Bakayoko.
  • Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers named two changes to the Celts side that fell to a shock defeat at home to Hearts where they lost 2-0 at Celtic Park, before that scoreline was enough to see off Livingston at Parkhead on Saturday.
  • Paulo Bernardo was given an opportunity in the middle of the park, replacing David Turnbull to accompany club captain Callum McGregor and Matt O'Riley in midfield.
  • Daizen Maeda joined Luis Palma on the flanks - as Mikey Johnston dropped onto the bench - both looking to provide for Kyogo Furuhashi, who had gone seven games without a goal, in attack.

Prediction

  • Dundee's match against Aberdeen at Dens Park on Saturday was postponed, so here's hoping the Boxing Day meeting with league leaders Celtic is given the go-ahead.
  • The Dee picked up just a second away victory this season the weekend before last, where late Joe Shaughnessy goals are appearing to become a theme, against Ross County. So far, they've lost just twice at Dens Park and are hopeful of avoiding a third loss of the campaign. After the Aberdeen game was called off, they'll hope to use their time wisely and continue a solid return to the top tier.
  • It was imperative that, before the Glasgow derby against Rangers, Celtic returned to winning ways in the Scottish Premiership. Having got the better of Livingston, it's simply a case of job done and onto the next one. They head to Dundee hoping to pick up another three points but are up against a team, that has had a few extra days to rest and prepare, who have been tough to beat at home.
  • Dundee have proved a tough nut to crack at Dens Park, but Celtic will want to enter their derby day clash having remained at the top of the tree.
