Team News

Aberdeen
Celtic
  • Aberdeen boss Barry Robson named three changes to the Dons team that lost 2-0 to Hearts at Tynecastle on Saturday afternoon, before a 1-1 draw with Dundee at Pittodrie in midweek proved his final game in charge.
  • Kelle Roos continued in goal behind Nicky Devlin and Richard Jensen. Stefan Gartenmann joined fellow defender Slobodan Rubezic on the treatment table as Angus MacDonald took his place in the Dons defence.
  • Jack MacKenzie continued at left wing-back but Jack Milne came in at right wing-back at Connor Barron's expense. Dante Polvara was also sat amongst the substitutes as Ester Sokler joined top goalscorer Bojan Miovski in attack.
  • Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers named three changes to the Celts side that blew away Highland League opponents Buckie Thistle 5-0 in the Scottish Cup, before a sole goal was enough to see off Ross County in the league on Saturday.
  • Cameron Carter-Vickers, who has signed a new five-and-a-half year deal with the Hoops, returned at the heart of the defence. Greg Taylor is injured, so Alexandro Bernabei was given a rare start at left-back.
  • Club captain Callum McGregor took Odin Holm's spot to accompany Matt O'Riley and Paulo Bernardo in midfield and make his 450th Celtic appearance. There was a space on the bench for January signing Nicholas Kühn who has signed from Austrian outfit Rapid Wien.

Prediction

  • Two of last season's top three in the Scottish Premiership go head-to-head at Pittodrie, as Aberdeen host Celtic in Saturday's lunchtime kick-off.
  • The Dons parted company with former Aberdeen and Celtic midfielder Barry Robson on Wednesday, after they were held at home by Dundee in their midweek match. A remarkable run under Robson saw the Reds end up as the 'best of the rest' in Scotland's top tier last season but they've failed to reach those levels this season and his nine-month tenure was brought to an end as a result.
  • Celtic scraped past Ross County in their last Scottish Premiership game. Three points on the board is all that mattered but the Hoops were booed off after their victory, such was the level of the performance against the Staggies. Still top of the league, they're up against an expectant Aberdeen home crowd who will want to see something from their team given a change of voice in the dugout.
  • Despite Aberdeen making their managerial change, Celtic's recent record at Pittodrie is strong and they should have too much for the Dons this weekend.
