Team News

Rangers
Livingston
  • Rangers manager Philippe Clement named four changes from the Gers team that recorded a comfortable 3-0 victory at Easter Road against Hibernian, before a sole goal was enough to see off St Mirren in Paisley.
  • Connor Goldson was suspended for the trip to the capital, so Leon Balogun joined John Souttar at the heart of the Gers defence but the veteran made way for the centre-back to return.
  • Scott Wright and Dujon Sterling started on the right and left-hand side of midfield respectively, replacing Rabbi Matondo and Ross McCausland. Cyriel Dessers sealed the deal against Hibs and started at Fabio Silva's expense, proving the matchwinner at the weekend.
  • Davie Martindale named four changes to the Livingston team that was hammered at home by Dundee as they lost 4-1 last weekend, before a 2-2 draw with relegation rivals Ross County in Livi's midweek match on Tuesday night.
  • Jamie Brandon entered the Lions' defence, as they resorted to a back four, replacing Shaun Donnellan. Scott Pittman entered a four-man midfield, as Daniel MacKay - who saved Livi's skin against the Staggies - made way in midweek.
  • Stephen Kelly supported Bruce Anderson in attack against Dundee. Both dropped onto the bench against County on Tuesday night as Kurtis Guthrie partnered Joel Nouble - who saw a transfer to Exeter City fall through - up front.

Prediction

  • Rangers are aiming to overtake Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, meanwhile Livingston are looking to climb to safety and preserve their top-tier status.
  • For Rangers, the result was all that mattered against St Mirren as a sole goal saw them scrape past the Buddies and maintain the distance at the top of the league table. There will be more comfortable afternoons to come for the Gers but they say that the sign of a good team is winning when not necessarily at their best. If Celtic slip up at Aberdeen, they should be ready to pounce.
  • Livingston's stay in the top flight is hanging by a very thin thread after conceding late on to Ross County, but not giving up and finding an even later equaliser. Had they lost to County, they'd have fallen nine points behind the Staggies and it could've been a case of beginning to prepare for life in the Scottish Championship. Up against it here, they did claim a point at Ibrox last season.
  • Livi lost both league meetings at home to Rangers last season but picked up a point in their last league visit to Govan. However, the Gers have beaten Livingston 4-0 at home twice this season and are in search of a third in succession.
