Team News

Porto
Sporting
  • Diogo Costa might not recover on time, which could hand Cláudio Ramos another chance to start between the sticks.
  • Evanílson serves the 2nd of a 2-match ban, meaning that will be Mehdi Taremi leading the line on Sunday.
  • With João Mário injured and Jorge Sánchez out of the team due to disciplinary reasons, 18-year old Martim Fernandes might have a chance to start from the outset.
  • Matheus Reis is doubtful for Sunday' 'Clássico', which could give Nuno Santos a chance to start.
  • Esgaio should get the nod over Catamo if Nuno Santos start at the opposite flank as Amorim isn't expected to take too many risks.
  • Diomandé is back available after serving a match ban and will be in competition with Quaresma to start at the heart of the defense.

Prediction

  • FC Porto have finally returned to winning ways last weekend, beating Casa Pia AC by 2-1. Hopes of getting into 2nd place are getting slimmer, so they will have to defend 3rd place if they want to end the season with some dignity.
  • Sporting CP are getting closer to the Primeira Liga title and could actually grab it if SL Benfica loses to SC Braga the day before. They're looking confident right now, and not even Rúben Amorim' trip to London (allegedly related to his departure from the club) should mess with it.
  • Playing at home, FC Porto are always tough to beat, especially in a match against a long-time rival (they defeated SL Benfica by 5-0 earlier this season). However, given Sporting CP' run of form, it wouldn't be a shock if they got all three points.
