Team News

Australia
England
  • Sam Kerr didn't start the last match due to fitness but could start here.
  • Lauren James is out for this match but will be available for the final should England make it.

Prediction

  • This will be a match to watch. Co-hosts Australia facing European champions England in a make or break match for both. For England, this is their third semi final in a row. Having won the Euros, they will hope that that experience helps them into the final. They faced a tough test against Colombia but came from behind to win. Australia's route here was even more tense. France are an incredibly tough team to face but the Matildas held them all match. They then went into the longest World Cup penalty shootout and managed to triumph. Despite the home crowd, this is a whole new occasion for them and England do have the experience so whilst this could go all the way, the Lionesses should just edge this contest.

  • Kerr's goal was a cracker!

  • I've derided women's football forever but this English team is giving me as much, and probably more, emotion and pride than the men ever have.

  • @Caseyyy1 Fair.

  • Well - that was easy!

  • If Australia win you will never hear the end of it but if England win Australia will pretend it never happened.

  • @MEHJones What a load of crap , we’re still listening to the English prattling on about the 1966 World Cup win !

  • @redyrun England can certainly be obnoxious when they win but they do at least acknowledge it when they lose. In fact, the English fans and English news is prone to wallowing in defeat to the point of becoming toxic (and boring). By contrast, when Australia lose the football or rugby the sports news pretends it didn't happen and instead shows a segment about netball, lacrosse, fencing... or beer pong. It's hilarious.

  • @MEHJones Australia will be proud of making the semis of the game England invented. Shame England have only won 1 World Cup in mens or womens!!

  • @Quest I don't actually care whether England win (I'm Welsh ) but I also lived in Australia for 5 years so know how the Ozzie sports news behaves.

  • @Quest You could also have pointed out that England's only World Cup win was at home too.

  • @MEHJones Wales wins 0. Qualifying for WC Two. Wales women qualifying 0. Lol. Cry more

  • @eastend1 Bahahahaha! The fact you're even comparing Wales and England (given their respective expectations) shows how thin skinned you are.

  • @MEHJones Don't bottle it!! Love a good choke do the Poms.
