  • Real so-called tactics were more than primitive yesterday. However, they won CL in 2022 relying on their goalie as well. I do not see any reason this won't work again. Happy for Lunin, top-class performance during the match and penalties shootout.

  • Bellingham's performance was fantastic, he had the best statistics among Real Madrid players with 93.9% correct pass. He received the balls under pressure and distributed them among the players in the best way with high technique and confidence, as we saw in the goal scene. This boy is wonderful.

  • bit gutted since city did attack more had more (half) chances etc. they only have themselves to blame tho, they had 120 mins to score twice & not go to pens, and then their pens were bad. this is what happens when you do side passes 9 out of 10 times, this city side was far less direct than last year, silva didnt even go right once, only to the crowded middle. grealish cant get past carvajal - reals most underrated player over the years. they looked most dangerous with doku that did vary his decisions. im aware its peps tactics, also the crosses to deal with the bus parking - but haaland poor heading. the importance given to akanji in this match was also a mistake, he was not up to the task in midfield. props to madrid defense. wont prop them too much for the goal - overall their counterattacks were not the most inspired. today they won the age old battle between the 2 playstyles, it was close unlike last year, but as always a spectacle. coaching of these 2 teams is above every other.

  • @Icarax What has been done to these teams has nothing to do with coaching. Just so you understand: what Real Madrid and Manchester City did tonight was analogous to a Ferrari driving with 40 mph on the highway. It was fkn' ridiculous to use these types of teams with expensive players that way! And who on earth would devise a strategy in which the Ferrary should cruise with just 40 mph, when it could blast with much higher speeds??? Only an insane person who has no clue of his profession!

  • @Icarax Please say this to the guy below, who is pretending that possession-based football is the only type of football that matters.

  • Without being a cityfan I must say that this was totally unjust. They should've kept the away goal rule. Even if Real would turn out to win the cup there is no way you can convince anyone that they're the best team in Europe. They were totally outplayed here and over the two legs.

  • @Terry If the rules were legit, city would be in championship

  • @ilovelissa Well since you don't mention the game at all I guess you agree then.

  • @Terry yes

  • @Terry He doesn't mention it because there is only one important aspect in football. Only one aspect that matters - GOALS! Real Madrid scored more goals than Manchester City (including penalties), therefore they deserved to qualify. End of story, good night!

  • @Terry Justin Timberlake - Cry me a river

  • @Sputnik I guess this is why neutrals and fans shouldn't talk. Fans make retarted assumptions. Just because I stated the obvious, that Real was outplayed, you automatically assume that I was rooting for city. I was actually hoping real would win but that doesn't turn me into a hypocritical liar. Viewing this game, If I'm perfectly honest. City was the better side.

  • @Terry Did you actually just call me a liar? Which part exactly was a lie, may I ask? Do I have to repeat myself like I'm talking to a complete moron? Being 'outplayed' is a point of view. Outplayed in the Dutch school's perspective (Guardiola's tactics) is the thing you said - more shots and ball possession. Outplayed in the Italian school's perspective (Ancelotti's tactics) is limiting the opposition's chances to a minimum and using basically every means necessary to win. Which is what Real Madrid did. At the end of the day, the team which outplayed the opposition is the one, which won the game. Winning is winning! I will not say any more.

  • @Sputnik @Sputnik 1. No, if you read again I was talking about myself, not your sorry ass. I said that I am not a hypocritical liar for wanting real to win and then pretend somehow that justice had been done. 2. Outplayed is not really a point of view, either way you look at this game they were outplayed, both statistically and in both schools you mention. If you think "Real limited Citys chances to a minimum" I don't think they succeeded in that. So if 34 attacks and 18 corners are a "minimum" then I can only guess how it would look on a bad day. Resultwise they succeded but that's not the topic of my post that you decided to comment on. Your summary is wrong to. The team that wins is not automatically "outplaying" the other, that is moronic. I was glad by Reals lucky win, but it's the same type of happiness I can have from an FA cup game where a lower division side upsets a better team.

  • @Terry Josep Guardiola himself said this: "Johan Cruyff said luck doesn’t exist, I agree with him. Losing like this hurts. We feel bad tonight but we have done all we can. What can I say to these players. We have shown we can play against a big side like Real Madrid. What more could we have done?"

  • @Terry OK, I forgot to say - limiting the opposition's *good* chances. City had no good chances except De Bruyne's goal, which was a mistake by the defender. Everything else was a shot directly at the goalkeeper, which are not considered good chances. Real Madrid played this way for 2 reasons: 1) because they are can, they are Real Madrid after all and 2) because they have an Italian coach - the greatest coach in football history, by the way. And yes, justice has been done, because City didn't even deserve to win last year's competition. They won only because one Inter player gifted them the trophy. Anything else?

  • @Sputnik No, you clearly are biased, talk like a fan and make silly statements bringing up emotional drivel about old stuff deviating from the topic. Real didn't play this way because "they are real madrid" or "their coach is italian". If they could they absolutely would have had city against the ropes instead. They played this way because they had no choice. They were outplayed and has a weaker bench than City so they have fewer alternatives. They have to use the tools that they have so it was more city that forced them to the put their whole team in the box, it's not like it was a deliberate tactic from the beginning. They started the game well but then they lost it,

  • @Terry I admire your drive to continue the argument, I really do. You are relentless. But you missed the whole point. Real Madrid and Ancelotti's game plan was the following - score an early goal, play defensively and on the counter for the rest of the game and see it out. If they score a second, they kill the game. That was peak Italian tactics. They didn't, however. Not only that, but Rudiger made a very dumb mistake, which ruined their whole game plan and they pretty much had to play for penalties. Every team plays to their strengths and the way they can. City has players with better individual characteristics, but Real played better as a team. Seriously, why are you pretending as if you don't understand? Football is a team game and a game of goals! Also, you conveniently didn't comment on Guardiola's words. City's coach conceded that the opposition went through not because of luck, but because of something esle. An X factor in the CL perhaps? Why can't you?

  • @Sputnik there really isn't any argument I simply said that the result was unjust and you couldn't live with that because of your fanboy bias, along with many others on here. So you bring up old games, that city should be in championship, coaches game plan, "italian tactics", stuff that only proves your bias but doesn't change what happened on the pitch. City was closer to winning both games regardless of who you root for or who you quote. You don't think so, fine, but dont add stuff that has absolutely nothing to do with the game. And no I'm not relenteless, I was minding my own business and you appeared like the silly fanboy you are trying to overprove the obvious bringing up non-essentials. As I said earlier neutrals and fans shouldn't really interact. A fanatic is a fanatic, as the word implies the opinions of fanatic will never be balanced.

  • @Terry There is no such thing as "closer" or "if" in sports. Also, I'm not exactly a Real Madrid fan, but if it's easier for you to understand it this way, then fine. Consider me a Real Madrid fan. Real Madrid did not lose anything, they won the tie. And you *still* haven't commented on Guardiola's words. Guardiola says they played well, but football is a game of goals and Real deserved to qualify. Ancelotti says that these tactics were the only way they could play and win. But then comes some guy with the nickname Terry on the internet and pretends like he knows better than 2 of the greatest coaches in history. You seriously need to understand that possession-based football is not the only type of football that exists and/or matters and that it is definitely not the only style, utilising which you can win "in a just way". City had 70% possession and 20 corners, so let's just award them a walkover, while we're at it, huh?

  • Bernardo's penalty was so bad I half expected the ref to say he could retake it.

  • @MEHJones Shame as he otherwise, from what I saw, he played really well.

  • Viva La Lunin

  • @dustycough : KRASAVCHIK LUNIN!

  • @UAkalinici STFU

  • UNDERESTIMATE REAL MADRID AT YOUR OWN PERIL!

  • Sort of the matches City had against Chelsea this season.

  • Lunin is having the game of his life

  • Silva and Grealish have switched positions all of a sudden

  • MAN CITY Ederson, Walker (C), Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol, Rodrigo, De Bruyne, Bernardo, Foden, Grealish, Haaland

  • SUBS Ortega Moreno, Carson, Stones, Ake, Kovacic, Doku, Alvarez, Gomez, Nunes, Bobb, Lewis

  • Easy home win. Foden worth a punt as 1st GS at 7.0. City win 3 nil

  • @Bigsean76 How does it feel, being a complete idiot?

  • @Bigsean76 almost xD

  • madrid wins 4-3

  • Man City Win and Over 2.5 goals in the game @2.10 odds

  • Foden to score anytime @ 3.25 Odds (If he starts the game).

  • should be fun, 2-2 again?

  • 0:0 and the match will go to extra time, its time for the bookies to make some money today !!

  • No English teams anymore in all European competitions after this round.

  • @neumi17 What did you expect? I have already told many times: the slow, old boys approach of the Premiership teams, without counterattacks and long distance shots is NOT the winning recipe in international football.

  • 2-2

  • 3-2 city by last min goal

  • High-scoring and both teams to score

  • ManCity get red card and Madrid easy win

  • Let there be tears! BOTTLE IT

  • @Willsta147 Haha YES!!! I PREDICTED IT

  • 2-0

  • The robot needs to find his scoring boots quickly...a fringe player Pep sold is matching his team's top striker in the league...lol...maybe Pep's main strength is building up scoring midfielders...recently Haaland has looked a frustrated figure upfront.... City to win regardless...Foden or KDB MOTM...

  • @AramisMick Crawl back to your hole, shitty fan!

  • @AramisMick Pep is completely clueless, that's why he always has somebody on his side, who can tell him what to do (Arteta earlier, now that Spanish guy who does not speak a word of English - gotta lova that: you are coaching an international team and yet you don't speak English ). LOL

  • @AramisMick you r right bro. i would sell the robot with his high price tag but never sell the joker. The joker is a mexture of the best of Haland, KDB and Mahrez; a super scorer, genius playmaker, set pieces taker, bight dribller in his first official season as a starter. Why Pep did that? Any how i expect City win 3-1

  • @sampo Agree mate...I suspect Pep's thinking is to protect Foden by selling a similar player....the strength of the robot besides scoring is to occupy the CBs, but that only works well if the team is quick counter-attacking with wing action....the way city play is slowly slowly with 10/11 opposition stuck in the box so no point to occupy anyone since they are all there... City is best with false 9 where everyone can score and the robot will shine in teams like Arsenal or Real, even Newcastle....

  • @AramisMick Or, better to put it this way: Haaland will shine in just about any team where NOT Guardiola is the manager! LOL

  • I think Real Madrid will 'bottle it' at the Etihad like they did last season. It will be a fantastic atmosphere from the home fans.

  • ManCity will smash Real Madrid and qualify to the next round.....mark my word

  • @Ortega_10 We marked them... now what?? xD

  • Man City have won their previous 12 Champions league games at home.

  • Man City have scored at least 3 goals in each of their last 4 games.

  • Madrid might upset

  • @buthethi What kind of upset? Anyone who plays against Real Madrid in the CL is an underdog.

  • Madrid to advance to the semis

  • @bestvsbest And it happened. Madrid is nobody's mate.

  • 1-0

  • Man City 3-1

  • 4-1 Man City win

  • draw 1-1 90min

  • @FF2021 You always predict a draw, you will win once

  • @bachi because it actually ended a draw :)
