Team News

Dundee FC
Kilmarnock
  • Dundee manager Tony Docherty made two changes from the Dee team that was hammered by Hearts 3-0 at Tynecastle last weekend, before they spurned a two goal lead to lose 5-2 at Ibrox against Rangers on Tuesday night.
  • Aaron Donnelly dropped onto the bench as Dundee named a back four of Jordan McGhee, Antonio Portales, Ryan Astley and Owen Dodgson. Mo Sylla came in to join a midfield trio of Luke McCowan, Lyall Cameron and Malachi Boateng.
  • Michael Mellon dropped onto the bench as Scott Tiffoney took his place to partner Amadou Bakayoko in attack. Joe Shaugnessy, Owen Beck and Diego Pineda appear to be the Dee's only absentees ahead of their final league game this season.
  • Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes named just one change to the Killie team that clinched a 1-0 win over St Mirren in Paisley that secured a fourth-placed finish in the Scottish Premiership, before they were hammered at home 5-0 by Celtic.
  • That change came between the sticks as Kieran O'Hara started in goal at Will Dennis' expense. Corrie Ndaba, Robbie Deas, Stuart Findlay and Lewis Mayo started at the back. Matty Kennedy and Danny Armstrong continued on the flanks.
  • David Watson scooped the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year award recently, and he joined Liam Donnelly in the middle of the park. Marley Watkins and the weekend matchwinner Kyle Vassell lead the line for Killie in midweek once again.

Prediction

  • Sixth hosts fourth, as the last two Scottish Championship champions - Dundee and Kilmarnock - go head-to-head at Dens Park with both teams enjoying successful Premiership campaigns.
  • Dundee may have reached the top six, but they'll hope to pick up at least a point at home to Kilmarnock this weekend, to avoid losing every top-half fixture. The Dee have had a very impressive season considering they're newly promoted and have outperformed several sides with greater resources. Next season will be interesting, particularly with the Dundee derby back in the top tier.
  • Kilmarnock were seeking a third successive home win over Celtic for the first time in 60 years, but were smashed at home by the champions elect. That shouldn't detract from a quality campaign for Killie, who will look forward to European football next season. After avoiding relegation by finishing 10th of 12 teams last season, a fourth-placed finish shows their massive improvement.
  • Kilmarnock knocked Dundee out of the Scottish Cup with a 2-0 win at Rugby Park, but the three league meetings between the two teams have finished 2-2 this season so that wouldn't be surprising at all here.
