Team News

Aberdeen
St. Johnstone
  • Interim Aberdeen boss Peter Leven made one change from the Dons' 0-0 Hampden heartache as they were knocked out of the Scottish Cup on penalties following a crazy 3-3 draw with Celtic, before a 1-0 win over Motherwell.
  • Kelle Roos continued behind an unchanged Dons defence consisting of Nicky Devlin, Angus MacDonald, Stefan Gartenmann and Jack MacKenzie. Connor Barron and Dante Polvara, replacing suspended skipper Graeme Shinnie, were in midfield.
  • Junior Hoilett started on the left hand side, replacing Duk in the Don's only change, with Jamie McGrath on the right. Leighton Clarkson was starting slightly more advanced in the middle of the park, supporting lone striker Bojan Miovski.
  • St Johnstone boss Craig Levein named three changes to the Saints side that suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Kilmarnock at McDiarmid Park, before a 3-1 loss at home to Hibernian last Saturday afternoon.
  • Andy Considine, Ryan McGowan and returning club captain Liam Gordon made up the back three, the latter starting at David Keltjens' expense. Max Kucheriavyi and Tony Gallacher made way for Fran Franczak and Graham Carey to start in midfield.
  • Nicky Clark and Adama Sidibeh were chosen as Saints' strike duo, but failed to net in both games against Killie and Hibs. Benjamin Kimpioka came off the bench to score a consolation goal against the Hibees, so could start in this one.

Prediction

  • Eighth hosts tenth, as Aberdeen essentially secured their Scottish Premiership safety last time out with St Johnstone hoping to do the same soon.
  • The Dons continued their excellent recent record against Motherwell last weekend, beating the Steelmen for the fifth time in six meetings as a sole goal was enough. It's the first time since 2016/17 that Aberdeen have beaten Motherwell three times in a Scottish Premiership season. With safety secured, the hosts can look ahead to next season hoping to finish as high as they can.
  • St Johnstone failed to break their Hibs hoodoo as the capital club came to Perth and swept Saints aside. Having won their last two league meetings with Hibernian, Saints were unable to win three on the spin for the first time against them this century, missing out on a third consecutive victory. However, they're unbeaten against Aberdeen this season, winning at Pittodrie in February.
  • Having secured their Scottish Premiership safety, Aberdeen would like to beat St Johnstone for the first time this season in order to catch Hibernian who currently occupy seventh spot.
