Team News

Hibernian
Aberdeen
  • Hibernian manager Nick Montgomery made three changes to the Hibees' starting XI after an excellent 3-1 win in Perth against St Johnstone, before they were beaten last weekend as Ross County defeated them 2-1 in Dingwall on Saturday.
  • David Marshall is injured, so Jojo Wollacott took his place in goal. Chris Cadden, Rocky Bushiri and Jordan Obita were joined in the back four by club captain Paul Hanlon who took Will Fish's place in the back four up in the Highlands.
  • Nathan Moriah-Welsh and Joe Newell carried on in front of the Hibees' defence. Martin Boyle, Emiliano Marcondes and Myziane Maolida supported lone striker Dylan Vente, who replaced Adam Le Fondre up front.
  • Interim Aberdeen boss Peter Leven missed the Dons' victory over St Johnstone last Saturday through an emergency hospital procedure, but the Reds named an unchanged XI, which resulted in a win last weekend.
  • Kelle Roos continued behind an unchanged Dons defence consisting of Nicky Devlin, Angus MacDonald, Stefan Gartenmann and Jack MacKenzie. Connor Barron and Dante Polvara, as skipper Graeme Shinnie sat on the bench, were in midfield.
  • Junior Hoilett started on the left hand side, with Jamie McGrath on the right. Leighton Clarkson was starting slightly more advanced in the middle of the park, supporting lone striker Bojan Miovski up front.

Prediction

  • The side sat in seventh takes on the eighth-placed team in Edinburgh, as Hibernian host Aberdeen in Sunday's sole Scottish Premiership fixture at Easter Road.
  • Hibernian fell to a rare defeat in Dingwall having lost one of the previous six league visits to the Highlands, which came back in November 2021. But it was an all too familiar tale for Hibs as they have now won just one of their last nine Scottish Premiership matches on the road. Having failed to win back-to-back away matches for the first time since March 2023, home comforts could bring a positive result this weekend.
  • As for Aberdeen, they tried to right some recent wrongs against St Johnstone as they clinched just a third win at Pittodrie against Saints in their last 10 league meetings. They've now won three of their last four home league games, more than they managed in the previous 11 matches. However, only the bottom three in the Scottish Premiership have picked up fewer points on the road than the Dons, which may not bode well.
  • Despite knocking Hibs out of the League Cup at Hampden in the semi-final this season, Aberdeen have lost home and away to Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership. The last league meeting was a draw, but the hosts could strengthen their grip on seventh place with a win this weekend.
