Team News

Ross County
Motherwell
  • Interim Ross County boss Don Cowie named three changes to the Staggies side that fell to a 2-0 defeat away to Livingston, before bouncing back with a 2-1 win over Hibernian in the Highlands to jump to tenth position in the league table.
  • Will Nightingale joined Jack Baldwin and Ryan Leak in the Staggies' back three, as the Highlanders decided to change shape. Josh Reid replaced George Harmon at left wing-back with Michee Efete keeping his place on the right hand side.
  • Eamonn Brophy replaced Josh Sims, with Victor Loturi the other player to sit amongst the substitutes, in order to partner Simon Murray in attack. Jordan White came off the bench to score the winner against Hibs so could start in this one.
  • Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell named two changes to the Steelmen side that fell to a sole goal defeat against Aberdeen at Pittodrie, before an emphatic 4-1 victory over Livingston at Fir Park last weekend essentially secured their safety.
  • Liam Kelly stuck between the sticks as Shane Blaney, Paul McGinn and Dan Casey continued in an unchanged Well back three. Georgie Gent carried on at left wing-back, with Stephen O'Donnell remaining on the right.
  • Andy Halliday took Davor Zdravkovski's place to join Lennon Miller at the heart of the Motherwell midfield. Jack Vale was sent off against Aberdeen, so Sam Nicholson came in to join Blair Spittal in support of lone striker Theo Bair.

Prediction

  • Tenth meets ninth as Ross County look to keep their heads above water, up against a Motherwell team that can probably start planning for Scottish Premiership football next season.
  • The Staggies claimed a rare victory over Hibernian in the Highlands, as they had only won one of their last seven league meetings - back in November 2022 - against Hibs before last Saturday's success. County are now unbeaten in their last six Scottish Premiership home matches, their longest run without defeat in Dingwall since April 2022 in a sequence of seven games without a loss.
  • The Steelmen effectively secured their safety thanks to a vehement victory over Livingston which ended the Lions' stay in the Scottish Premiership. Motherwell had failed to win any of their previous four home matches, winning just two of 15 at Fir Park, but the consolation is that their away form is only bettered by the top two and both Edinburgh clubs in the league this season.
  • A team that's been strong at home under a new manager takes on a decent outfit on their travels but, given County's need is greater than Motherwell's, the hosts may fancy their chances of squeezing past the visitors in this one.
