Chelsea FC Women-Aston Villa Women - Women's Super League 2024/2025 Statistical Preview

The start of the WSL season is finally here and it kicks off with a cracker of a match.
Both Chelsea and Aston Villa have rung the changes in their teams for this new season with Aston Villa reportedly paying a record fee to bring in Gabi Nunes. Both teams have also brought in new managers.
Chelsea are led by former Lyon manager Sonia Bompastor and Aston Villa have former Bayer Leverkusen manager Robert De Pauw.
Chelsea have great previous form in this match up as they have won all eight of their meetings with Villa.
Both teams do come into this match in fine form too. Aston Villa managed to beat Manchester City 2-1 in pre season with Chelsea thumping Feyenoord 9-0.
On the flip side, Chelsea don't have the best form on opening days as they have won just two of their six opening matches as reigning champions.
Expect that to change with Chelsea looking like they are hitting the ground running. It'll be a close one but it will be a great match to kick off the new season.
