Team News

Auxerre
PSG
  • Vincent Gragnic, Yannis Mbombo, Jean-Charles Castelletto and Grégoire Lefebvre are all sidelined through injury for Jean-Luc Vannuchi's side.
  • The French manager has announced his intention to field a starting XI close to the one that lost to Le Havre at the weekend, with Donovan Léon and Grégory Berthier both expected to come on into the starting XI this time out.
  • L'AJA will either start in a 4-4-1-1 or 4-2-3-1 system with Frédéric Sammaritano starting behind Cheick Fantamady Diarra, as practiced this week.
  • Paris Saint-Germain are without playmaker Javier Pastore ahead of their Coupe de France final meeting with l'AJ Auxerre, who is suspended due to an accumulation of yellow cards.
  • The Argentine may have to watch the game from the stands with captain Thiago Silva, who is a doubt with a thigh injury for what will mark PSG's 58th and final competitive match of this hectic season.
  • Undefeated in both national cups this term, goalkeeper Nicolas Douchez will start in place of Salvatore Sirigu at the Stade de France once more.
  • Serge Aurier appears to be ahead of Grégory Van der Wiel in the pecking order after an impressive end to the season and should start at right-back, while Ezequiel Lavezzi competes with Lucas Moura for a starting spot on the wing in Pastore's absence.

Prediction

  • It has been 12 years since Paris Saint-Germain and l'AJ Auxerre met at the Stade de France for the 2002/2003 Coupe de France final, in a clash that ended in l'AJA's favour following Jean-Alain Boumsong's winning goal in the dying embers of the match.
  • L'AJ Auxerre - who have not competed in France's top-tier since the 2011/2012 season - endured their share of difficulties since that period and missed yet another opportunity to return to Ligue 1 this campaign. They are on a 7-match winless streak coming into the final, having decided to focus on this clash since they managed to overcome Guingamp in the semi-finals last month.
  • The Ligue 1 champions, meanwhile, ended their season with success over Reims at the weekend, in the process extending their domestic winning streak to 11 matches. Les Parisiens stepped up their game in recent weeks and head into this match with hopes of lifting the last domestic piece of silverware missing to the club since the change of ownership.
  • PSG would become the first French side to win all four domestic competitions in a single season should they win on Saturday evening, and Laurent Blanc's men are strong favourites to do so against a well-prepared but feeble AJ Auxerre side.

  • Either PSG have to make Cavani their striker and bench Ibrahimovic or Cavani has to leave. It'll be better for PSG's short and long-term plans if he stays but putting him wide of a 3 is ridiculous. I would suggest a change of manager too.

  • Never seen Ibra play. How good is he irl?
