Valencia interested in sensational move for Manchester United ace
Valencia want to re-sign Juan Mata from Manchester United on a free next year, claims The Sun.
Mata has entered the final 12 months of his existing United contract and only initial discussions have been held over an extension.
The Spain international has spent the last seven years in England after leaving Valencia to join Chelsea in 2011.
Mata has been at United for the last four years but his future has been uncertain during that time, even more so since Jose Mourinho arrived.
The United boss was desperate to sign a new right-winger this summer and it’s a position that will likely be addressed next summer.
Valencia are monitoring Mata’s future at Old Trafford and will try and prise him back to the Mestalla next summer if he is available on a free.
Mata was expected to be kicked to the curb by Mourinho following his appointment in 2016 but has managed to survive.
In that time United have won significantly more matches in the Premier League when Mata (65.1%) has started compared to when he has not featured from the off (47.1%).
