Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez is interested in signing Liverpool striker Danny Ings on loan for the rest of the season, reports The Newcastle Chronicle.
Despite making an impressive start to the season, Rafa Benitez is not getting carried away and is still targeting survival for the remainder of the campaign.
Newcastle have only scored 10 goals in 11 Premier League matches this season and Benitez is keen to sign another striker in January into to boost his offensive options.
Current strikers Dwight Gayle, Joselu, Aleksandar Mitrovic, Ayoze Perez have only scored four goals between them this season.
Even though Mike Ashley is actively looking to sell the club, Newcastle will reportedly push forward with a loan move for Ings regardless of the takeover situation.
The 25-year-old has endured a nightmare time with injuries since joining Liverpool from Burnley in 2015 that has limited the striker to just three Premier League starts for the club.
Ings did manage to score four goals for an underage Liverpool match last week and now Newcastle are keen to offer him regular first team football for the second half of the campaign.
