Cavani takes responsibility for PSG draw

Edinson Cavani has held his hands up for Paris Saint-Germain’s incredible 1-1 draw with Arsenal in their first Champions League match of the season on Tuesday.

Cavani headed PSG into the lead in the first minute against Arsenal but missed several chances to put the game to bed before the Gunners eventually equalised.

The Uruguay international coped all the flack from fans as Arsenal somehow came away with a share of the points and he has accepted the blame.

“No the draw is not a disappointment,” Get French Football quotes Cavani as saying. “The result aside, we say some very positive things, things that are good for the team.

“It is normal that when you lead until the last 10 minutes and have so many chances that there is bitterness at the end… I take responsibility. I had three, four great chances.

“In front of me, there was a goalkeeper and players who were doing everything they could so that I did not score. There are moments where I could have scored, other moments no. These are things in football.

“What is important is to stay calm in terms of the team spirit and to hold on to convictions because this team works to over come difficult moments.”

Cavani missed more clear-cut chances in a Champions League match than any other player since December 2012 (4 - Cristiano Ronaldo vs Malmo).
