Newcastle are lining up an ambitious move for Liverpool frontman Daniel Sturridge, writes the Newcastle Chronicle.
Sturridge has struggled with injuries for much of the campaign, leading to reports that the Reds could cut their losses on the England international.
Newcastle are keen on adding to their squad provided they secure their top flight safety, with a striker high on Steve McClaren's priority list.
Newcastle failed in a bid for Saido Berahino in January and amidst reports that Tottenham now have first refusal on the West Brom striker, the Magpies could switch their attention to Sturridge.
However, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is believed to be a big fan of Sturridge, though it is thought a bid of around £30m could tempt Liverpool into selling.
