David De Gea makes decision on Manchester United future

David De Gea has made an extraordinary u-turn on his Manchester United future and is now poised to sign a blockbuster £400,000-a-week long-term deal, claims The Sun.

The Spain international’s current deal is due to expire at the end of next season after United triggered a 12-month extension clause in his contract this season.

De Gea has stalled on pledging his future to United over concerns about the club’s ability to fight for major honours in the coming years.

De Gea has developed into one of the best goalkeepers in the world during his time at Old Trafford and Jose Mourinho’s side are desperate to secure his long-term future.

Failing to convince De Gea to sign a new deal by the end of the season would force United to cash in on their No.1 goalkeeper or risk losing him for free in the summer of 2020.

However, De Gea has reportedly now decided to stay at United and become one of the club’s best-paid players of all-time on £400,000-a-week after bonuses.

The 28-year-old has only kept two clean sheets in 16 Premier League appearances this season, eight shy of Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson who leads the way in England’s top-flight.
