Newcastle midfielder will cost Spurs £25m

Newcastle United have told Tottenham they will have to pay £25m to sign Georgino Wijnaldum this summer, according to The Daily Mirror.

Tottenham are keen to add depth to all areas of their squad after securing Champions League football for the upcoming season and have earmarked Wijnaldum as a potential target this summer.

Rafa Benitez’s side paid £14.5m to sign Wijnaldum from PSV Eindhoven last summer and they are looking to recoup almost double that despite the fact they were relegated to the Championship last season.

Despite Newcastle’s struggles last season, Wijnaldum scored 11 goals and registered five assists in 38 appearances. Incredibly, all 11 of those goals came at St. James’ Park; only Sergio Aguero (15) and Jamie Vardy (14) scored more goals at home than the Netherlands international.
