Manchester United will pursue £60m-rated Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the summer regardless of who their manager is, reports The Independent.
Louis van Gaal made the decision to sell Javier Hernandez and Robin van Persie at the start of the season to leave him with only Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial as viable options up front.
The Red Devils are determined to bolster their offensive options in the summer with Felipe Anderson also reported to be on their radar. However, the board have already made the decision that they will try and sign Aubameyang, even if they change manager at the end of the campaign.
Aubameyang, 26, has been in tremendous form for Dortmund this season and has previously been mooted with a move to Arsenal. The Gunners are still interested in the Gabon international, but United are suggested to have made serious attempts to get in pole position for his signature in recent times.
United have previously been put off signing African players, resigned to the fact they will lose them for six weeks every two years because of the African Cup of Nations, but they are now seriously considering to relax that policy in order to acquire Aubameyang.
Only five other players have scored more goals in Europe’s top five leagues than Aubameyang this season (21), who is scoring at a goal a game

I'm sure they'd like to have him, but I really don't think he'll sign on for a non-CL club.
