Arsenal are in talks to sign Juventus right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner on a free transfer, claims The Guardian.
The Gunners appointed Unai Emery as Arsene Wenger’s replacement earlier this week and the new Arsenal boss is wasting no time in the transfer market.
Jean Seri and Lorenzo Pellegrini have already been lined up as midfield additions, while Arsenal are also looking for experience in defence.
Lichtsteiner has confirmed he will leave Juventus this summer when his contract expires, but ruled out a lucrative move to China.
The Switzerland international would provide competition for places with first choice right-back Hector Bellerin and Arsenal are now in pole position for his signature.
Lichtsteiner only made 21 starts in Serie A this season, his lowest ever return in a single season for the Old Lady.
Juventus signed Mattia de Sciglio and Benedikt Howedes last summer and both internationals will compete for a starting berth at right-back next season.
