Zidane wants Pogba and Camavinga at Real Madrid this summer

Zinedine Zidane hopes Real Madrid can sign Paul Pogba and Eduardo Camavinga this summer and not one or the other, reports L'Equipe.

Madrid are planning a summer of huge expenditure to arrest problems in their aging squad with the likes of Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Karim Benzema and Sergio Ramos all the wrong side of 30.

Players like Isco, James Rodriguez and Gareth Bale are also deemed surplus to requirements by Madrid and they hope to make several high profile signings ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.

It has widely been reported Madrid hope to finally prise Pogba from Manchester United this summer but if they fail to do so they will turn to Rennes sensation Camavinga.

However, it has now emerged Zidane wants Madrid to sign both players in the same summer as a huge statement of intent for next season.

Pogba has barely kicked a ball for United this season due to injury and there is a feeling in some quarters the Red Devils now accept it is time to move on.

Camavinga, meanwhile, has emerged as the hottest prospect in Ligue 1 after breaking into the Rennes first-team at 16 and establishing himself as a first-team regular by 17.

Rennes were initially opposed to the idea of selling Camavinga but the financial implications of COVID-19 mean they now need to cash in on the €60m-rated (£52m) teenager.

In fact, only Leicester defender Ricardo Pereira (4.3) averages more tackles per game than Camavinga (4.2) in Europe's top five leagues this season.
