Chelsea rekindle interest in Bayern Munich star

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri wants to sign Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski, claims The Daily Mirror.

Chelsea are still waiting to discover whether they will be able to sign players this summer after lodging an appeal against a FIFA-imposed transfer ban.

The Premier League are expected to sell Eden Hazard to Real Madrid at the end of the season and will attempt to overhaul their current options if they are allowed to sign players.

The futures of Gonzalo Higuain and Olivier Giroud at Chelsea also remain uncertain and now Sarri has his eyes on two Bundesliga strikers.

Chelsea have been linked with a move for Lewandowski in the past but may have to act quickly for the Poland international as it is suggested he could renew his contract with Bayern.

Lewandowski fired Bayern into pole position for the Bundesliga title on Saturday after scoring twice in a shock 5-0 win over former club Borussia Dortmund.

The 30-year-old went past 200 Bundesliga goals in the process and also scored his 20th and 21st league goals of the campaign.

Lewandowski has scored at least four more goals than any other player in the Bundesliga this season and netted at least 20 goals in each of his last four league campaigns.

Lewandowski is not the only Bundesliga striker on Chelsea’s radar, however, with Dortmund teenager Alexander Isak also being considered.

Isak shot to fame for AIK in his native Sweden after scoring 10 goals in 24 league matches at the age of 16 to earn a high profile move to Dortmund in 2017.

The 19-year-old has struggled to make any impression for Dortmund but has been a revelation for Dutch side Willem II since joining on loan in January.

Isak has scored 11 goals in as many league appearances for the Eredivisie side and has also registered three assists. He is averaging a goal or an assist every 66.1 minutes of action.
