Chelsea goalkeeper Courtois completes Real Madrid move
Real Madrid have announced the arrival of Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea on a 6-year deal running until 2024.
The European giants have been pursuing Courtois since the end of last season and have finally got a deal over the line.
Courtois had entered the final 12 months of his Chelsea deal and Madrid have managed to prise the 26-year-old away in a deal worth in the region of £35m.
The 26-year-old failed to report to pre-season training with Chelsea at the start of the week in a bid to force through a return to Spain to reconnect with his children.
Chelsea’s desperate scramble for Courtois’ replacement ended in making Athletic Club goalkeeper Kepa the move expensive goalkeeper of all-time.
Maurizio Sarri’s side agreed to match Kepa’s €80m release clause, paving the way for Courtois to seal a move to Madrid.
In the last four Premier League campaigns, only David De Gea (57) and Hugo Lloris (51) have kept more clean sheets than Courtois (48).
